OMG that was alot of work yesterday ..
How did I get myself into that situation
Well I can only blame Joanna and Rena... ... ... ...
My summer was going along well no thoughts of canning of freezing anything well I was feezing lots of store bought items
Then I went to visit Joanna 2 weeks ago and she was making blackberry jam it smelled soo fine I had to have some of my own... By the time I was ablt to pick some most were dried up but i managed to pick 5 cups in a hour and a half one night Rylan was sleeeping in the car so Randy sat with him Randy was amazed that i was able to get that many LOL because the pickens were so slim.
The corn freezing was my idea, there is a farm stand by Randys work that has the best corn ever Wait wait wait that wasn't my idea either, it was Randys, he came home from work one day saying a guy from works wife was freezing it Ok so maybe it was both our idea, because fresh sweet corn in the winter sounds so good........Now I just need to find out how to cook it .Randy and Rylan shucked all of it for me, we had 24 ears and it came out to 15 bags for the freezer.
Ok so we were on our way to Medford to watch Andrew do his horseback riding and Rena called me .. She was also going to be going to medford to pick up tomatoes $10.00 for 25 lbs to can ... Yeah you can see where this is going ...I was all wow that's a pretty good deal on tomatoes so i told here we would pick up hers so she wouldn't have to drive all the way over she got 5 boxes I only bought 1 but I really should of bought more..
On the way home I remembered that there was a great sale on bell peppers 4/ 99 cents so we stopped and bought some I was thinking maybe I would make some salso and spaghetti sauce from the tomatoes, didn't do the spaghetti sauce, but saved out enough tomatoes for the salsa.. I came across how to freeze bell peppers on the net when looking how to freeze the corn so I washed cut and flash frose about 3/4 a gallon of bell peppers and had Randy stop and buy 8 more thats such a good deal..I make a recipe that Randys mom gave us called tamale pie and it calls for tomatoes bell peppers and corn I can't wait to try it with the stuff i am putting up..Oh I am also going to try freezing onions they may make the freezer smell to much though....
Well That the way it happened ..here's some pictures of the aftermath ..Its days like this that I wish I had a maid I am wore out I told Randy that the kitchen may just look the same when he gets home..
Rylan is still sleeping I didn't finish and get us to bed till 11 pm and he never took a nap, so you can just imagine how fun that was LOL
Sherri do you recognize the calendar by Rylan ? :-) I just love it, all your painting are so nice ..

The first one was me, I hadn't signed Jake out of the account and his name and pic came up. lol.
Anyway, I was lol at how all this transpired. OMG! What a job! You will enjoy those peppers in the winter when the stores have them for 2.29 a pound.
Tell Randy I said you deserve a "ME" day this weekend.
I know, I couldn't believe it when I seen them 4 for 99.... I am planning on trying your pepper steak recipe too... I am taking a ME day for sure ..Randy is going to get a ME day too, I had him running around all 3 of his days off this past weekend ..
I keep thinking that i am going to make one weekend a month off limits for anything, but laying around.I guess with winter coming things will slow down ..
One more thing how do you delete comments ? can a person edit them too ? I have made some bad typos that I never see till I hit send.. then I just cringe LOL
Oh Lord, LaDawn, I can remember our kitchen looking like that after Chele's Pop and I would get back from a friend's bean patch or from the Farmer's Market in Shockoe Slip. I never canned, but we have a 16 cu ft upright freezer and we would wash or blanch and freeze tomatoes and all kinds of veggies. We bought that Kenmore in 1974 from one of my coworkers for $125. It was 3 years old. It is sitting in our garage now...working perfectly and never a problem 37 years old...amazing. Not frost free but I like it that way.
I'm so glad you are enjoying that calendar. I need to get back into my studio. Maybe tomorrow!
WOW What a great deal on the freezer ...I would of froze more things we usually freeze our tomatoes, but our freezer is full, full, full !!!!!
LaDawn we got an newer 3 year old energy efficeint Kenmore last March to replace the upright freezer we had that went out. We only paid 150.00 at an used appliance store. Watch craigs list too they always seem to have the chest style freezers for free or nearly free.
I think my next freezer will be a upright.. I get tired of digging LOL
