I did a experiment Saturday to see what were the biggest energy hogs in my house and was AMAZED at my findings....
The Dishwasher is a huge energy hog OMG that little meter was spinning like crazy....
I have decided to see how much I can lower my electric bill by not using it, or only using it when I am to overwhelmed with other things.....
I was also surprised that our air conditioner didn't use more power .. The other big energy hogs that surprised me were my hairdryer and the microwave...

I use the air dry setting on my dishwasher and don't use the "heat water" setting so it uses much less electricity. Never use a hair dryer and only use the microwave for baked potatoes. LOL
I've been calling Chele every month since we had the new A/C unit installed (it's a heat pump)--because of the higher seer rating of the new models, the new A/C is saving us a minimum of $100 a month compared to the same period last year. I am thrilled. Of course, it will take us 5 years or so to get back the money we paid out for it. But, we're using much less energy, no freon now, and that's good for the environment. :)
I was lol at your experiments. I will be curious to see how much you saved on your next bill.
